From One Farm, One Family, to Your Table
The Native Herd began with a simple question from a man who spent his whole life around food and the people who grow it: why is it so hard to find food you can actually trust?
Meet Venkatesha K G
Venkatesha K G was born and raised in Kantanahalli, a small village in Kunigal Taluk. He grew up close to the soil in a humble farming family, where food was grown, not bought, and nothing was wasted.
That early life shaped a 35-year career in the Horticulture Department and HOPCOMS. For over three decades he worked with Karnataka’s farmers, its produce, and the system that brings fruits and vegetables from the field to the city. He saw what good farming looks like, and he saw how much of that goodness gets lost before food reaches a family’s kitchen.
A Retirement Spent Going Back to the Land
When he retired, Venkatesha didn’t slow down.
He went home.
On his own land in Kantanahalli, he started Harshadri Farms, a working farm run with the same patience and care he grew up with. And from Harshadri Farms came The Native Herd, so families in Bengaluru could eat the way his village always has: fresh, honest, and close to the source.
One Farm. No Middlemen. No Guesswork.
Most “farm-fresh” brands collect produce from many places you’ll never see. We don’t.
Everything at The Native Herd comes from a single farm: Harshadri Farms, Kantanahalli, Kunigal Taluk. We know every tree, every hen, and every batch, because we raise them ourselves. When you buy from us, you know exactly where your food was grown and who grew it.
What We Bring to Your Table
A small range, grown well. The Karnataka pantry, from one farm.
